Carl Bergmann wurde 1837 in Karenz geboren.1852 in Eldena konfirmiert.                                                                                                            1852 wanderte er erst nach London aus, wo er 1858 heiratet .  1862 wandert er nach Brisbane / Australien aus.

My name is Noel John Bergman, I live in Brisbane, the capital city of the state of Queensland in Australia and together with my wife Delwyn, have been researching my family history for ten years.

My German Ancestors emigrated from various parts of Germany in the 1860’s & 1870’s from Mecklenburg, Hanover, Pommern and West Prussia.  Even when they settled in Australia, they married within the Australian German community for several generations.

I have been married for 33 years and have two daughters, Lee and Kaye.  Lee is a scientist who worked in Germany for three years and now lives in England.  Kaye is a school teacher and lives in Brisbane and is married to Tony Goldberg, whose parents were born in Germany.

In 2001 and 2003 we visited Germany where we travelled and saw many of the villages associated with my Ancestors and met with some distant German Cousins.

My Great Great grandfather was JOHANN CARL LUDWIG VOJE. He was born in July 1837 in Karenz, Mecklenburg. His parents were CATHERINE ELISABETH HENRIETTE VOJE born in 1815 in Karenz Mecklenburg and his natural father was CARL CHRISTIAN ERDMANN BERGMANN who was born in Spornitz, Mecklenburg in 1798. They never married. JOHANN CARL LUDWIG VOJE was Confirmed at the age of 14, in 1852 in Eldena Mecklenburg. Sometime between 1852 and 1858 he emigrated to London England. In 1858 he married ANNA WELLBROCK in London England. At the time of his marriage in London, JOHANN CARL LUDWIG was known by his natural fathers surname of BERGMANN.

ANNA WELLBROCK was the daughter of DIETRICH WELLBROCK and LENA SCHROEDER from Worpswede Teufelsmoor near Bremen Germany. 

Carl & Anna’s first child was my Great Grandfather CARL FRIEDRICH HEINRICH BERGMANN who was born in London in 1859.

Their second child born in London was Henrietta Catherina Lena (Reeke) BERGMANN. She was born in 1861.

In 1862 the BERGMANN Family emigrated once again, this time to Brisbane Queensland Australia and settled approximately 50 Kilometres west of Brisbane in a location then known as Seven Mile Creek.

They had 4 more children born here in Queensland, and these were :-

Eliza Ida BERGMANN born in 1870

Wilhelm BERGMANN born in 1874

Caroline BERGMANN born in 1876 &

Alfred BERGMANN born in 1880.
